How are you coping with the stress of life? Do you feel like there’s more you could be doing to guide your family through life’s challenges but don’t know where to start? Have you ever felt like you or your child just need someone to be in their corner? Someone to listen without judgement, to come alongside and gently challenge you on your terms? Together we can understand your unique emotional world or that of your child toward helping you improve self-confidence, seek and maintain healthy relationships, develop effective boundaries, balance out mood challenges and hopefully become more satisfied with life!

My approach to counselling and ally-ship comes from a trauma informed lens, combined with CBT and a genuine curiosity to uncover your personal motivations and strengths. Through gaining greater self awareness of your unique patterns of thinking and feeling you can improve behaviour in relationships at school, work and home.

You are worth collaborating with to develop a therapy plan that feels comfortable for you while still challenging you to achieve your goals.

I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice. In your first session, we’ll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we’ll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, I’ll help you learn how to push back against those thoughts to change your feelings for the better.

In a world obsessed with perfectionism life sometimes has a tendency to knock us down. I am here to say we don’t have to be perfect all the time, our imperfections are what makes us perfect. I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, emotional issues, struggling with identity issues or hoping to better their relationships with friends, family and partners. Some journeys are not meant to be travelled alone. Together we will rediscover the joys of life, hold space to safely explore emotions and rediscover the strengths within. I do not hold any answers, but my hope is that in working together, I can help you understand your needs and goals while addressing any presenting issues that led you to me. I believe in valuing the voices of everyone especially the marginalized populations and challenging the norms. I know what it is like to try and balance your values and cultural expectations.

Acting as “helper” has always felt intuitive to me. Historically, my role – amongst friends and family - was to sit with, listen and reflect. I rarely (if ever) resolved their dilemma, but I feel confident saying they felt less lonely as a result. I’m proud to say that I’ve added a great many tools my repertoire of therapeutic know-how since childhood.

I’ve earned a MA in Counselling Psychology from Western University, and have been certified as a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). My approach to counselling is founded on an eclectic mix of models including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT); Motivational interviewing; Person-Centred Therapy; and Solution-focused Therapy. This means I may work with you to bring a gentle awareness to your thoughts and feelings, develop new skills, challenge you a bit, or motivate you to act differently – we’ll figure out which model best suits you and your goal(s) for therapy.

My role as a therapist is to support you with moving towards new ways of thinking and behaving that result in greater satisfaction with how you are in the world/who you grow into. Making this sort of change isn’t easy. I speak from experience when I say, this work can be tough. And if you’re willing to try, I’d be delighted to be a part of that process with you.

I’ve worked with people - individually and in group settings – experiencing behaviour or conduct problems, grief, suicidal ideation, education, and career transitions, generalized anxiety, and feelings of depression.
